Kraków-Balice Airport never sleeps. Although the terminal is bustling with activity during the day,
it is at night that you can see its other side. For many passengers
who have flights at unusual hours or connecting flights, Balice at night is
a completely different experience.
1. Night flights and charters
Krakow handles many night connections, especially low-cost airlines and tourist charters.
That is why, even at 2:00 a.m., you can meet groups of tourists
flying to Spain or Egypt. This means that the terminal is practically alive 24
hours a day.
2. An atmosphere of peace and quiet
Passenger traffic is lighter at night than during the day. Queues for check-in and
security checks are shorter, and the terminal seems
more peaceful. It’s a good time to sit down with a coffee, work on your
laptop or simply relax before your flight.
3. Food and shops at night
Not all food outlets are open 24 hours a day, but travellers
can count on bars and snack vending machines being open. Usually,
at least one café in the public area and several outlets in the
departure area are open.
4. Getting there in the middle of the night
Although trains from Balice run from early morning until late evening, at
night passengers can count on night bus lines (e.g. 902) as well as
taxis and ride-hailing apps. This makes getting to the city at any
time of day or night a breeze.
5. A magical view from the aeroplane window
There is something special about take-offs and landings at night. Approaching Balice
after dark, you can see Krakow lit up from the lights of the Market Square to the line of the
Vistula River. It is an unforgettable experience that every traveller will appreciate.
Balice at night is a more intimate place, but just as fascinating as during the
day. For some, it is a transfer point, for others the beginning of an adventure, but
always with a touch of night-time atmosphere that you won’t find during rush hour.
